The Riedel Superleggero Decanter 1925/01 is a hand-blown decanter from the Austrian glassmaker Riedel's Superleggero line, made from crystal glass. Superleggero is Riedel's attempt to push hand-blown crystal to its technical limit – as thin and light as possible without sacrificing strength. The decanter's wide base gives the wine a large surface area to breathe, and the shape is built for full-bodied red wines, several of which you'll find in our range of red wine.

Design & Material

The decanter is hand-blown in crystal glass by experienced glassblowers who shape the entire piece in a single, continuous motion while the glass is still hot. The wide, low form gives a large surface area, which noticeably speeds up the wine's aeration compared to a bottle. The foot is designed wide and stable, so the decanter stands securely even when full.

Use & Recommendation

The decanter is built first and foremost for full-bodied red wines that benefit from extra oxygen before serving, but it also works well for decanting an older wine off its sediment. Wash it by hand in warm water without soap, and let it dry upside down on a decanter stand if you have one – avoid the dishwasher, as the thin crystal can easily be damaged.
