Myken takes its signature Sommergin and lets it rest in casks that previously aged peated Myken Whisky, adding both a golden colour and new layers of flavour.
Expert's description
Myken Arktisk Fadlagret Sommergin is a Norwegian cask-aged gin from Myken Destilleri, bottled at 47%.
The base is Myken Arktisk Sommergin, with the same local botanicals from and around the island, including juniper, cloudberries, redcurrants, blueberries, crowberries, sorrel, oarweed, meadowsweet, adder's fern, scots lovage, rhubarb, rose root and sea buckthorn.
The gin ages for 7 months in 40-litre ex-sherry casks that previously held peated Myken Whisky, adding vanilla and citrus notes from the oak.
The cask ageing gives the gin a more golden colour than the unaged version, while the many flavours from the Sommergin's botanicals remain clearly present.
