The house of Meyer Fonné is located in the German-sounding Katzenthal, but on the French-sounding Grand Rue, where winemaker Felix Meyer combines the best of both sides of the border in his wines, built around Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer. The village of Katzenthal is blessed with a fantastic, granite-rich terroir, and Meyer is a true master at blending wine from his various parcels. Meyer Fonné is a family-run winery in Alsace, where winemaker Felix Meyer has carried on and expanded the family's vineyards over several generations. The area around Katzenthal is marked by its blended German-French cultural heritage, a result of the region's shifting history between Germany and France over several centuries. The house ages wine on lees in old foudres, the classic large French oak casks, a technique that gives the wines extra depth and complexity, further refined through Meyer's own approach to parcel-by-parcel vinification.
