Caskmates is a new whiskey from Jameson that has been in casks previously used to age Irish stout.
In 2013, Jameson's master distiller ran into the brewmaster from Cork's Franciscan Well Brewery.
They decided to send a few Jameson casks to the Franciscan Well Brewery to see how they could influence their handcrafted Irish stout.
After bottling the beer, the barrels were sent back to the Jameson distillery with the new stout character, and they chose to refill them with Jameson Whiskey.
Jameson Caskmates maintains the smoothness of the triple-distilled Jameson Original , yet sings a different tune.
The complementary notes of the stout include cocoa, coffee, butterscotch and a gentle touch of hops, making it a Jameson with something a little different.
