Expert description of Espero Caribbean Mango Rum Liqueur
Espero Caribbean Mango is the newest addition to the Ron Espero family, a series of rum-based liqueurs from Albert Michler Distillery in Bristol, England, acting as an independent bottler of Dominican rum. The base is a rum from the Dominican Republic, aged seven years using the solera method, where younger and older rums are continuously blended to create a smooth, rounded foundation with notes of vanilla and caramel.
On top of the rum, Michler adds a maceration of Caribbean mango. The fruit is left to steep in the rum, so the fresh, juicy mango aroma melts together with the rum's depth. The result is a liqueur at 40% — strong enough to keep the rum's character, yet with the sweetness and lightness of the fruit up front. It was launched in 2026 as a sister to the likes of Espero Caribbean Banana.
The name Espero means "I hope" in Spanish, and the series is built around the idea of adventure and Caribbean joy rather than rigid tradition.
Tasting notes
Nose
Tropical and direct. Ripe mango leads, followed by a warm rum sweetness with vanilla and a touch of caramel.
Palate
Full and creamy on the palate. The mango steps forward even more, juicy and sweet, while the rum base adds depth with discreet notes of wood and molasses that ground the fruit.
Finish
Soft and pleasant with mango and a mild warmth from the rum settling at the end.
