Tomatin Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Founded in 1897, the Tomatin whisky distillery sits at an altitude of 313m just to the west of the village of the same name and quenches its annual five million litre capacity with the pure waters of the Allt-na-Frithe. Closing briefly at the beginning of the 20th century, Tomatin experienced good fortunes and during the 1950s began increasing its stills, installing the last in 1974, bringing its total to an impressive 23, although 11 were dismantled in 2002.

Tomatin Sauternes Cask Whisky was distilled in 2008 and matured in traditional Scottish whisky oak casks before the whisky is given its final maturation in Sauternes casks. The result is a whisky with lots of peach and apricot, which together with Manuka honey create a wonderful balance in the aroma. The sweet honey aroma continues on the palate, accompanied by ginger and coconut. The The French Collection consists of four unique whiskies. All four variants were distilled in 2008 and subsequently aged in traditional Scotch whisky oak casks before each received a final maturation in Monbazillac, Sauternes, Rivesaltes and Cognac casks. The result is a magnificent collection of Tomatin Whiskies with a French Finish, unfiltered and with its natural color. Monbazillac cask - No. 1 of 4 The whisky offers a wonderful aroma of cinnamon baked apples, maple syrup and intense espresso. On the palate, spices and nuts combine with sweet cereals, beeswax and milk chocolate. The finish is rich with maple syrup and walnut. Stauternes dish - No. 2 of 4 Lots of peach and apricot, which together with Manuka honey create a wonderful balance in the aroma. The sweet honey scent continues on the palate accompanied by ginger and coconut. The finish is sweet and fresh with a syrupy mouthfeel from the Sauternes cask. Rivesaltes cask - No. 3 of 4 A whisky with the characteristic nutty taste of the Rivesaltes cask, which together with fresh fruit notes creates a good balance. The palate is dominated by contrasting sweet and bitter flavors with an underlying taste of barley. A long and lovely finish. Cognac cask - No. 4 of 4 Filled with subtle notes of lavender and Scottish heather. On the palate there are hints of orange peel, rosewater and cranberry with well-balanced spices.
