Thirty years in tropical heat is not thirty years in Scotland. A lot of the cask disappeared into the air along the way, and what is left is sweet fruit, vanilla and toffee.
Expert Description
S.B.S Guyana 1993 Bourbon Cask is a Guyanese Rum matured in an ex-Bourbon cask and bottled at cask strength, 59.2%. It is a single cask rum made from molasses and distilled in a column still in 1993. After 30 years in cask, 1423 World Class Spirits bottled it in August 2023 as part of the S.B.S Single Barrel Selection series, non chill filtered and with no additives.
The long maturation in an ex-Bourbon cask has given a calm, harmonious rum where fruit and spice hang together, and where the oak sits in the background as a gentle scent rather than a heavy flavour. The finish ends in toffee.
Only 136 bottles were filled.
