The youngest of the house's Colheita vintages still carries a decade in cask, yet the fruit feels livelier than its older siblings - candied orange rather than deep caramel.
Expert's Description
Dalva 2014 Colheita is a Portuguese Colheita Port from the single vintage 2014, bottled at 20%.
Unlike most other fortified wines, a Colheita carries two dates on its label - the harvest year and the bottling year - making it possible to track exactly how long a given bottle has rested in oak, in this case a decade, during which it developed its sweetness, colour and spice.
Dalva is the Port brand of the house C. da Silva, founded in Vila Nova de Gaia in 1933 by Clemente da Silva, who a year later registered the name Dalva - a contraction of his own surname. Across generations, the house has specialised in exactly this style of single-vintage Tawny.

Did You Know?
While most wines state only a harvest year, a Colheita carries two dates on its label - harvest year and bottling year - so anyone picking up the bottle can see exactly how many years the Port has spent in the dark of the cask.
