209 grams of esters per hectolitre of pure alcohol sounds like a laboratory figure. On the palate, it becomes one of the most intense Jamaican rums you can find on the shelf.

    Expert description

Velier Forsyths WPM 2006 is a Pure Single Rum from Jamaica, distilled on the Forsyths pot still in 2006, matured for 11 years and bottled at 57.5%.

The rum comes from Worthy Park Estate, located 1,200 feet above sea level in the hills of Lluidas Vale, and is released by the Italian bottler Habitation Velier under its philosophy of rum without added sugar, colour or flavour. WPM is the second most concentrated of Worthy Park's ester marques, reaching levels up to 209.3 grams of esters per hectolitre of pure alcohol, giving it a bold, empyreumatic character. This bottle is assembled from 25 fully matured American oak casks and was distilled in 2006, before being bottled in 2017 after 11 years in cask.

    Finish

Long and fat, with baked apple, leather and a lingering ester character.
