Every August, people from near and far gather in Thy National Park to pick bog myrtle - a tradition that since 1984 has given Thisted Bryghus the ingredient for one of its most beloved export beers.

Expert description of Thisted Bryghus Porse Guld

Since 1984, Porse Guld has been one of Thisted Bryghus's best known export beers - valued for its full, aromatic flavour and strong ties to the local region. The secret behind this classic lies in the hand-picked bog myrtle from Thy National Park, which partly replaces the bittering compounds of hops and gives the beer its distinctive, spiced character.

Over the years, Porse Guld has achieved near cult status, not least among the young people of Thy, where the August bog myrtle picking has become a local tradition bringing people together across generations. That makes the beer more than just an export beer - it is part of the region's identity.
