Named after a British navy veteran who later became a historian of Navy rum, Mister Fogg honours a bygone era when navy rum was a fixed part of sailors' daily lives.
Expert Description
Planteray Mister Fogg Navy Rum is a Caribbean Rum blending rum from Barbados, Trinidad, Guyana and Jamaica, bottled at 55.7%.
The rum is the result of a multi-year research project led by Planteray master blender Alexandre Gabriel and rum historian Matt Pietrek, who built the blend on the work of navy veteran Michael Fogg. The blend consists of 43% rum from Barbados, 36% from Trinidad, 17% from Guyana and 4% from Jamaica. The rums are first aged in ex-bourbon casks in their respective countries of origin, after which the blend is shipped to south-west France, where it undergoes double ageing in used oak barrels and extensive oxygenation in large, open wooden vats.
The result is a full-bodied, complex rum, where molasses and dark chocolate meet vanilla, dried fruit and spice in a long, powerful finish.
