Pampero Aniversario is a Ron Extra Añejo, a blend of rums matured 4-6 years, bottled at 40%.
The rum comes from Industrias Pampero, founded in Caracas in 1938 and today part of the Italian spirits company Gruppo Montenegro. Aniversario is the house's prestige release, matured in whisky and bourbon casks, giving a concentrated, rich flavour with a pronounced cocoa and tobacco character. The rum is traditionally sold in a distinctive leather pouch that has been part of Pampero's identity for decades.
Tasting notes
Nose
Full and rich with dominant cocoa and a hint of vanilla, plus butter biscuit, dried tropical fruits, toasted oak, orange peel, dark honey and a touch of roasted almonds.
Palate
Cocoa hits first, followed by vanilla, leather and a light woodiness from the casks, with dark chocolate, tobacco, caramel and roasted coffee.
Finish
Extraordinarily long and warming with traces of molasses, cinnamon and a gentle oakiness.
