Mosgaard 8 Year Whiskymessen 2026 Oloroso Quarter Cask is a Danish single malt with a pronounced sherry influence and a concentrated character that only a small quarter cask can deliver. The whisky opens with deep notes of dark raisins, dried fruits, walnuts and a clear Oloroso sweetness. Layers of dark chocolate, orange peel and a lightly spiced oak note reveal both age and cask type. The high strength lifts the aromas and creates an intense, warm nose.

The palate is full-bodied, rich and oily. The Oloroso cask contributes powerful notes of dried fruit, figs, caramel and dark syrup, while the distillate itself adds malt depth, spice and a subtle nutty tone. The high alcohol strength of 59.8% brings a marked warmth, yet it is well integrated and carries the flavour without overshadowing the nuances. Hints of cinnamon, roasted almonds and a deep, almost wine-like sweetness also appear.

The finish is long, warm and persistent with dark fruits, sherry, oak and a light bitterness from the cask that balances the sweetness. The small cask size has accelerated maturation and created a whisky with both depth and intensity, without feeling over-aged. It is a powerful, sherry-driven dram with clear identity and impressive complexity.

This bottling is created exclusively for Whiskymessen 2026 and is signed by Mosgaard’s new Master Distiller, Kim Møller-Elshøj. With only 17 bottles from Oloroso Quarter Cask #471702, it is an extremely limited release that will appeal to both collectors and sherry lovers. The organic production and 8 years of maturation underline Mosgaard’s focus on quality and craftsmanship.
