A drop of Tuscany from a Piedmont distillery. This small bottle packs the same floral Sangiovese character found in its big sister's 70 cl bottle into a format made for tasting your way forward.
Expert description
Marolo Grappa Miniature di Brunello Valdicava is an Italian grappa distilled from the pomace of Sangiovese grapes from the Valdicava vineyard in the Brunello di Montalcino district of Tuscany, bottled at 42% ABV in a 5 cl tasting bottle.
Because Marolo distils grapes from several Italian regions, this miniature is one of the easiest ways to taste a Tuscan grappa from a Piedmont-based distillery without buying a full bottle. The pomace comes from Valdicava, a vineyard on the Montosoli hill in Montalcino that grows exclusively Sangiovese Grosso.
The grappa is gently distilled in bain-marie stills and rests in stainless steel, preserving the fresh, floral character that is typical of the Sangiovese grape.

Did you know?
Although Marolo is based in Piedmont, the distillery works with vineyards as far away as Tuscany - this miniature is therefore one of the few ways to taste a single-vineyard Sangiovese grappa from a Piedmont distillery.
