Rhum agricole is made from fresh sugarcane juice, not molasses, and at Longueteau the self-sufficiency with sugarcane goes all the way back to the fields surrounding the distillery.

    Expert description

Longueteau XO is a Rhum Agricole Vieux from Guadeloupe, blended from 8, 9 and 10 year old vintages and matured in former cognac casks, bottled at 42%.

The rum comes from the Longueteau distillery in Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie in Guadeloupe, founded in 1895 and run by the same family for four generations. Longueteau is one of the rare agricole distilleries that is 100% self-sufficient in sugarcane, meaning the entire process from field to bottle takes place within the house. The XO release blends 70% 8-year-old, 20% 9-year-old and 10% 10-year-old rum, all matured in casks that previously held cognac, giving it a vinous, almost cognac-like depth.
