The first batch. Knaplund started with wheat and sea — and the result is a bourbon-inspired whiskey that tastes of Denmark's west coast.

    Expert description

Knaplund Atlantic Aged Batch 1 Wheated Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the first release in Knaplund's Atlantic aged bourbon-inspired series, bottled at 50%. Wheat replaces rye as the secondary grain, giving a softer, more fruit-forward character than the spicy Rye series. "Straight" guarantees at least 2 years of ageing with no artificial additives. Matured near the Atlantic so sea air leaves its maritime signature. 50 cl.

    Tasting notes

    Palate

Medium-length and soft with wheat and vanilla. Light salt at the end.

Frequently asked questions about Knaplund Atlantic Aged Batch 1 Wheated Straight Bourbon

What is the difference between Knaplund's Wheated Bourbon and their Rye Whiskey?

The Wheated Bourbon series uses wheat as secondary grain, giving a softer, more fruity and creamy profile. The Rye series is spicier and more direct. Both are Atlantic aged.

What does Knaplund Batch 1 Wheated Straight Bourbon taste like?

Soft and creamy with honey, vanilla, butterscotch and ripe fruit — and a discreet maritime touch from coastal ageing. Round at 50%.

What is a Straight Bourbon whiskey?

Straight means aged at least 2 years in new charred oak casks with no colour or flavour additives. It is a quality signal guaranteeing a natural product.

    What is "Batch 1"?

Batch 1 is the first production run in this series from Knaplund. Craft distilleries typically release in numbered batches, as there is natural variation from one production to the next.

Is Knaplund Batch 1 Wheated Bourbon good for beginners?

Yes — the soft, wheat-forward profile is more approachable than spicy whiskeys, and 50% is not overwhelming. A good entry point for exploring whisky.

Can Knaplund Wheated Bourbon be used in cocktails?

Yes — the soft, fruit-driven profile works well in Old Fashioned, Mint Julep or Whiskey Sour. The subtle salty maritime tone adds an interesting extra dimension.
