On the family farm outside Oslo, most botanicals are grown by hand, and one of them, rhodiola rosea, is picked from cliffs by the Arctic sea, once considered magical by the Vikings.
Expert's description
Kimerud Finest Small Batch Gin is a Norwegian gin from Kimerud Distillery, bottled at 43%.
The gin is distilled from as many as 22 hand-picked botanicals, including juniper, lemon peel, ginger root, coriander seed, angelica, walnut, mint, orange peel and rhodiola rosea.
The base is distilled from potatoes, an unusual choice in gin production, and botanicals are collected directly in Kimerud's farm garden between May and September.
The spirit is distilled five times, and only pure mountain water is added after distillation, giving the gin its clean, earthy character.
