At the confluence of the Tua and Douro rivers lies an estate with vines older than most of us. In 2022, it was allowed to stand alone on the label for the very first time.

    Expert's Description

Graham's Quinta do Tua 2022 Vintage Port is a Portuguese single-quinta vintage Port from the Douro Valley, matured in oak casks and bottled at 20% from the 2022 harvest.

The wine is made from old, mixed vines, known in Portuguese as vinhas velhas, grown, harvested and vinified together rather than variety by variety. The method produces a complexity that is hard to achieve by blending single varieties afterwards, since the different grapes ripen and contribute to the must at the same time.

Quinta do Tua sits where the river Tua meets the Douro and has long supplied grapes to Graham's other Ports. 2022 was the first time the house chose to release a standalone vintage Port exclusively from this estate, making the bottle a new addition to Graham's collection of single-quinta vintage Ports.

The vines on Quinta do Tua behind this bottle are around 50 years old, giving grapes with low yield and high concentration, a key factor behind the wine's depth and structured tannins.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose offers an abundance of black and red berries, spiced with a touch of mango that lends an unexpected freshness.

    Palate

The palate is bold and compact, with ripe, dark berries wrapped in peppery tannins that give the wine an impressive structure and considerable ageing potential.

    Finish

The finish is long and dusty, with a mineral, almost graphite-like character that underlines the wine's depth and age-worthiness.
