In 1928, Firmin Filliers, the third generation of the distilling family, created a recipe still used unchanged today, and the name "28" honours both the year and the number of botanicals.
Expert's description
Filliers 28 Dry Gin is a Belgian Small Batch Potstill Gin distilled at Filliers Distillery and bottled at 46%.
The distillery was founded in 1880 and has a long tradition of producing high-quality spirits in the East Flanders countryside.
The recipe is built on 28 botanicals besides juniper, including Belgian hops, angelica root, allspice, fresh oranges from Spain and lavender, which are distilled separately in traditional copper stills.
The gin has only really found its way onto the international market since 2012, though it is built on a recipe unchanged since 1928.
