Rum Edition Batch 3 is the series at its most accessible. 48.5% instead of Batch 1's formidable 64.7% – but the rum finish is still there, warm and sweet, without getting in the way of everything else.

    Expert description

Fary Lochan Rum Edition Batch 3 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky finished in rum casks and bottled at 48.5%, 50 cl. It is the third bottling in Fary Lochan's Rum Edition series, and with a strength well below the earlier batches, it is the most drinkable expression in the lineup. The rum cask provides its characteristic sweetness and tropical note, but at 48.5% it allows the malt's own qualities more space. Non-chill filtered with natural colour.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

    Did you know?

Rum Edition Batch 3 is the most accessible in the series – at a strength well below Batch 1, it can be drunk neat by most people without water. The ideal introduction to Fary Lochan's rum-finish style.

Frequently asked questions about Fary Lochan Rum Edition Batch 3

What sets Batch 3 apart from Batch 1 and 2?

Strength is the main difference. Batch 1 was bottled at cask strength 64.7%, Batch 2 at 55.9%, and Batch 3 at 48.5%. The lower the strength, the more accessible the flavour – but all three are rum-finish single malts from Fary Lochan with the same core character.

Can it be drunk without water?

Yes. 48.5% is a manageable bottling point. Most people will be able to drink Batch 3 neat without it feeling too strong.

    What food pairs well?

Caramel desserts, dark chocolate, or simply as an evening dram. The rum finish pushes the flavour towards the sweet side, so sweet counterparts work well.

Is it the best Rum Edition to start with?

Yes. Batch 3 is the most accessible in the lineup – a good entry point for those not used to high-ABV bottlings.

What is the Rum Edition series from Fary Lochan?

A series of single malts finished in empty rum casks to add sweetness and tropical character to Fary Lochan's otherwise malty base. Each batch is its own bottling.

    Is there chill filtration?

No. Natural colour and no chill filtration on Rum Edition Batch 3.
