Fary Lochan Port & Peat Batch 02 is a Danish single malt whisky that beautifully unites the sweetness of port wine with gentle peat smoke in a deep and characterful expression. The whisky is distilled from unpeated Danish barley malt, yet it gains its smoky profile from maturation in used Islay casks, creating an intriguing contrast between Danish purity and Scottish tradition. It has matured for a total of seven years and two months, beginning with one year and ten months in two 2nd fill ex‑Islay bourbon quarter casks, followed by five years and four months in a 1st fill port wine cask. This combination of small, smoke‑influenced bourbon casks and a large port cask gives the whisky both structure and depth, along with a pronounced dark fruit sweetness. Bottled at 54.3 percent, it delivers a powerful yet harmonious experience in the glass.

The aroma opens with mild smoke, dark blackberries, prunes and a hint of vanilla from the cask. On the palate, the balance between sweetness and smoke continues, with pipe tobacco, dark chocolate, ripe blackberries and subtle attic‑like notes unfolding gradually. The finish is long, calm and elegant, with gentle smoke and tobacco lingering softly and leaving a pleasant warmth. This is a whisky where two worlds meet: the deep fruitiness of port wine and the smoky edge of an Islay cask. The result is an intense and nuanced flavour profile with notes of blackberries, prunes, liquorice, dark chocolate, pipe tobacco, vanilla and a touch of sea salt that adds an extra layer of complexity.
