Don Q 151 Overproof is a Puerto Rico Rum from Destilería Serrallés, a blend of light and dark rum aged a minimum of 3 years in used American oak casks and bottled at 75.5%.
The rum is one of very few overproof releases from Puerto Rico and was only the second of its kind from a local distillery when it launched. Despite the high strength, the nose is relatively tame for an overproof rum, with clear notes of vanilla, caramelised sugar and smoke, while the full intensity only reveals itself on the palate.
The rum isn't intended to be sipped neat, but as a powerful base in tiki and cocktail drinks.
