Distillery: DeanstonAge: NA Type: Single Highland Malt Whisky Alc. strength: 46.3% 70 cl. Other: Virgin Oak
Deanston Vigin Oak 70cl / 46.3% Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling Un-Chill Filtered and finish in virgin oak casks. A no-age-statement whisky from Deanston bottled at 46.3%. This one is made up of young whisky which is decanted into new American oak casks for its final stages of maturation.

We put everything we are, into everything we make. The idea couldn't be simpler. We take the finest local ingredients: local barley, local knowledge and soft local water from the River Teith. We were green long before it was fashionable! We don't rush, we wait, wait and wait and when we're tired of waiting, we wait a little bit more. Which results are a strange thing indeed, something infinitely subtle, something reflective, something big. We've taken the best that nature has given us and transformed it into something truly beautiful. We want every drop to be enjoyment. There is no shortage of lyricism and drama from the distillery when it comes to describing the "new style" from Deanston. What's really new compared to the variants that have been in Denmark from this distillery is: No cold filtration - so all the good stuff is still in the bottle The alcohol percentage has been raised to 46.3% - so a fuller-bodied whisky.

No caramel - and this has really taken the Deanston malt to a new level. As natural materials as possible are used, also when it comes to labels and gift tubes.Deanston is one of Scotland's exciting, yet little-known distilleries. It was established in the mid-1960s whisky boom in a 17th century former cotton mill near the Perthshire town of Doune. It is characterized by its self-sufficiency. Not only does the distillery get all its water from a dam on the River Teith, but the dam also drives a turbine that supplies it with electricity. In fact, the power supply is so great that several kilowatts can be sold to the nearby community.Deanston is one of three distilleries owned by Burn Stewart Distillers Ltd. Around 75% of Deanston's production has previously been sold to the US, meaning the whisky was quite overlooked in European markets, but the launch of the new 12-year-old will certainly change this situation in the near future. Ian Mac- Millan, Master Distiller at Burn Stewart said: "We want to emphasize the simplicity of the whisky process at Deanston, so we don't add caramel or use over-complicated techniques. We believe the result is a whisky in its most natural form and we are very proud of that. In our new 46.3% version, we put the whisky in brand new casks for a few weeks before bottling, as this gives us some extra sweetness. We already have a sweeter whisky with more oak, due to the lack of chill filtration."Deanston Distillery is situated outside the town of Doune, Perthshire, and lies on the banks of the River Teith, which rises in the nearby mountains of the Trossachs. Its origins lie in the historic center of Scotland, close to Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and Bannockburn. The waters of the River Teith are considered to be the purest in Scotland, and are used in the distillation at Deanston. About 15% of the Deanston 's production is marketed as single malt, while the remaining is used in blends - most notably Scottish Leader Blended Scotch Whisky, which is an international award winning blend with a honey rich smooth taste profile.Deanston is owned by Burn Stewart Distillers Limited. In 1995 Burn Stewart commissioned a gin distillery on the Deanston site making it capable of producing the highest quality distilled London dry gin. Burn Stewart Distillers Limited is a fully integrated Scotch whisky producer and brand owner a total of three whisky distilleries and a strong portfolio of Scotch whisky brands.
