A Ruby loses its freshness faster than its older, brown relative once the cork is pulled - which is why it makes good sense that it also comes in a smaller format.
Expert's Description
Dalva Ruby 37.5 cl is a Portuguese Ruby Port in a half bottle, bottled at 19%.
Ruby is aged briefly in large, near-airtight vessels to preserve its dark, fresh fruit and deep red colour, and because the style is more sensitive to air after opening than an older Tawny, the smaller format is a practical solution for anyone who won't get through a full bottle.
The wine is a blend of young Douro grapes such as Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, chosen for their ability to hold onto colour and fruit through the short ageing period.
Dalva is the Port brand of the house C. da Silva, founded in Vila Nova de Gaia in 1933 by Clemente da Silva, who registered the name Dalva as a contraction of his own surname.

Did You Know?
Because an opened Ruby loses its freshness faster than a Tawny, which is already shaped by years of oxygen contact, the half-bottle format makes good sense for anyone wanting a couple of glasses without the risk of the rest of the bottle losing its character before it's finished.
