In the hills outside Turin, where Piedmont's vineyards meet the golden light of evening, Cucielo Rosso was created as a tribute to Italy's aperitivo culture. Here, old-world craftsmanship meets a new generation's love of rich, characterful flavours in a glass of red wine infused with herbs and spices.
Expert's Description
Cucielo Vermouth di Torino Rosso is an Italian Vermouth based on white wine with 16.8% alcohol, produced at Torino Distillati in Moncalieri, Piedmont.
The brand was founded in 2018 by Andy Holmes, CEO of Artisan Spirits, working alongside master blender Carlo Vergnano, with Rosso and Bianco as the house's first two releases. The name Cucielo combines the Italian words cuculo, cuckoo, and cielo, sky.
Cucielo Rosso is made following the techniques underpinning the Vermouth di Torino designation, recognised as a protected EU appellation in 2017, and won gold with 95 points at the IWSC Singapore 2019.
