Cannonball is the name of this series from the French bottling house, and with a 12-month finish in peated Islay Whisky casks, edition number 8 fully lives up to the name's power.

    Expert Description

Compagnie des Indes Boulet de Canon No. 8 Spiced Panama Rom is a Panama & Nicaragua Rum, a blend mostly 3-5 years old with a touch of 8-year-old rum, bottled at 46%.

The Boulet de Canon series from French bottler Compagnie des Indes is characterised by whisky-cask finishing, and number 8 in the line spends 12 months in casks that previously held peated Islay Whisky. This gives this South American rum an unusual smoky, vegetal character, more reminiscent of an autumn walk through the forest than a classic Caribbean rum.

The result is a full-bodied, complex rum where smoke and vegetal notes meet classic rum sweetness in an unusual combination.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Fruity and smoky with vegetal aromas, moss on tree trunks and the scent of a wood-burning stove.

    Palate

Vegetal with thyme, cress and rooty notes, supported by coffee grounds and a pronounced bitterness.

    Finish

Smoky and toasted with liquorice and toasted almonds.
