    Tasting Notes
A unique rum! Notes of brown sugar, caramelized sugar, orange, toffee, marzipan, coconut, vanilla, and much, much more.

A blend of old barrels, primarily from Barbados. Produced in the Spanish style, which means it is made from molasses, and sugar (or caramel) is added. This results in a sweet and elegant rum without the sweetness overpowering the many other flavor notes.

Caraibe Ron is a new rum series - blended by Søren Beyer from H.J. Hansen Vin. It is reportedly the first time since St. Croix was Danish that a Danish company with a Danish master blender has produced rum.

The idea behind Caraibe Ron is to create a series of unique, old, barrel-aged rums of high quality at consumer-friendly prices.

The first three blends - Amalie, Charlotte, and Peter - in the Caraibe series were launched in Denmark in early September 2011, and they have been incredibly well-received. The Danish names of the rums pay tribute to the individuals who have made significant contributions to Denmark in the Caribbean throughout history.

Amalie, Charlotte, and Peter have participated in five rum tastings so far, and in competition with other good barrel-aged rums, Peter has won three of the tastings, while it has been voted the best value for money in all four tastings.

With 8 million liters of rum potentially available from 29 distilleries in nine countries, Søren Beyer and H.J. Hansen Vin can produce virtually any type of rum they desire. The first three rums in the Caraibe series, Amalie, Charlotte, and Peter, are all blends made in the Spanish style. This means that the rum is made from molasses, which is the residual product obtained after refining sugar.

The Spanish style is the sweetest of the different rum styles, and Amalie, Charlotte, and Peter fall on the drier end of the Spanish style.

This particular style has been deliberately chosen to appeal to many who enjoy a good, old, barrel-aged rum that can be enjoyed neat. The reason we have chosen to keep the rum on the drier side of sweet rum is that if the rum becomes too sweet, all the other nuances will be overshadowed, and you will only be able to taste the sweetness.
