Two types of casks and two continents meet in Brugal's most celebrated release, named after the year the Brugal family founded their distillery.
Expert description
Brugal 1888 New Ron Gran Reserva is a Rum from the Dominican Republic, distilled on a column still and matured in both American bourbon casks and European sherry casks, bottled at 40%.
The rum takes its name from 1888, the year Andrés Brugal Montaner founded the family's rum distillery in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. The 1888 edition is doubly matured, first 8 years in American bourbon casks and then a further 6 years in European sherry casks, giving the rum its complex, layered character. The rum won gold in the "Premium Aged Rum" category at the Miami Rum Festival 2015.
