Bowmore 9 Year is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 40%. A discontinued bottling from the distillery on the shores of Loch Indaal — a shorter, more youthful take on Bowmore's characteristic profile. Matured in carefully selected bourbon and sherry casks in the iconic No. 1 Vaults, which sit partially below sea level. The maritime climate leaves its mark here: salty air, stable temperatures and the constant presence of the Atlantic. As an Islay whisky from the island's oldest distillery, Bowmore 9 Year carries the characteristic balance between peat smoke and sweetness — just in a lighter register than the older expressions. An interesting tasting experience for those who want to see what Bowmore does with younger casks.

Nose

Fresh and open with peat, honey and a touch of caramel. Sea salt present behind a light fruity note.

Taste

Medium body with peat smoke, honey and dark chocolate. The bourbon cask brings clean sweetness; the sherry adds a gentle dark fruit undertone.

Finish

Short to medium, clean and lightly smoky with a lingering honey warmth.
