There is a Bacardi most people know from the white label, and then there is Carta Negra, the dark expression that is not afraid to show teeth.
Expert description
Bacardi Carta Negra is a Rum from Puerto Rico, matured for 4 years in charred oak casks and bottled at 40%.
The rum is charcoal filtered for smoothness, yet still retains a pronounced dark character thanks to maturation in charred oak casks. Unlike most of Bacardi's lighter classics, Carta Negra is built to carry weight and depth, with notes leaning towards molasses, coal and dark chocolate rather than the light, fruity style associated with the house's Carta Blanca and Carta Oro.

Did you know?
Carta Negra is charcoal filtered, a technique normally used to lighten and soften spirits, but here it instead refines the dark rum without stripping its body, an unusual combination within Bacardi's range.
