Distillery: An CnocAge: 12 years Type: Single Highland Malt Whisky Alc. strength: 40 % 70 cl.
An Cnoc / 12 years old 70 cl. / 40% Single Highland Malt Whisky When John Morrison bought the Knock Estate from the Duke of Fife in 1892, he wanted the investment to pay off. And situated in Scotland's finest grain region, Moray, with fresh running clean water on the land, whisky production was a wise choice. Production began in October 1894 - and Knockdhu, as it was then called, was born.An Cnoc single malt 12 years 40% This whisky should really be called Knockdhu - and it has been called that in the past. But a powerful financial group behind another distillery - Knockando - has kindly but firmly prevented the small distillery from using its real name. What we and other whisky lovers think about this case is pretty clear. Independent bottlers are happy to use the more straightforward Knockdhu (Gaelic for 'black mountain'). An Cnoc (Gaelic for 'mountain') we hope is just a 'loan name' until the distillery is allowed to use its name again. But regardless of the name, An Cnoc is a lovely whisky from the Speyside region. Perhaps a style species that leans towards being a "dessert malt"? The nose is soft, aromatic with hints of honey and lemon as key elements. The taste is sweet at first with an appetizing fruit character and a long smooth finish. A malt that suits any occasion. An Cnoc 12 Years is aged in both ex-bourbon and sherry casks. Tasting notes The aroma is soft and aromatic with lemon and honey as the most prominent nuances. The taste starts as tropical sweet juice, moves on to lemon nuances and ends with a long fresh taste.
