A small coffee roastery in the north-west of Ireland. Beehives in the forests of Bohemia, a long way east. Tullamore sits between them with an Offaly whiskey as common ground, and what comes out tastes like a spoonful of tiramisu.

    Expert's Description

Tullamore D.E.W. Café Honey Irish Whiskey Liqueur is an Irish Whiskey Liqueur flavoured with coffee and Bohemian honey, built on triple distilled Irish Whiskey matured in three cask types and bottled at 35%.

Café Honey is the newest member of the D.E.W. family and is only sold in selected markets. It launched in September 2025 in Ireland, the Czech Republic and Poland. The backbone is the house whiskey: distilled three times, blended from three styles and matured in three kinds of cask. On top comes coffee roasted locally by an artisan roastery in the north-west of Ireland, plus a touch of honey from beekeepers in Bohemia that rounds off the finish and adds a little extra sweetness.

So this is a liqueur rather than a straight whiskey, and it is made for easy drinking. The back label names William Grant & Sons Global Brands in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Freshly roasted coffee up front, with a light hint of vanilla and caramel behind it.

    Palate

Velvety coffee, round and not especially bitter. The honey arrives late and fills in like a calm, sweet wave. Think tiramisu with a bit more dark than sugar.

    Finish

Soft honey, warm coffee and a little dark chocolate that lingers.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tullamore D.E.W. Café Honey

What does Tullamore D.E.W. Café Honey taste like?

Soft coffee with honey as a sweet finish. The nose is freshly roasted coffee with vanilla and caramel, the palate velvety and round, and the finish brings warm honey and a hint of dark chocolate. It leans sweet rather than bitter.

Is Tullamore D.E.W. Café Honey a whiskey or a liqueur?

It is a liqueur. The base is Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey, but with coffee and honey added it is bottled as an Irish Whiskey Liqueur. That makes it softer and sweeter than a classic whiskey.

What is the difference between Café Honey and Tullamore D.E.W. Honey?

Café Honey has coffee in the blend, while Honey is built on honey alone. Honey is described as silky honey with vanilla, whereas Café Honey puts the coffee first and lets the honey round things off at the end. Both use Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey as the base.

Where do the coffee and honey come from?

The coffee is roasted by an artisan roastery in the north-west of Ireland. The honey comes from beekeepers in Bohemia, a region known for high-quality honey. Tullamore D.E.W. calls it three crafts in one bottle: whiskey, coffee and honey.

How do you drink Tullamore D.E.W. Café Honey?

Over ice is best, and it is also how Tullamore D.E.W. recommends it. You can drink it at room temperature if you want the coffee front and centre. A small glass is plenty, and you can browse our whisky glasses for the job.

Can you use Tullamore D.E.W. Café Honey in cocktails and Irish Coffee?

Yes, it is made for it. Tullamore D.E.W. itself points to an Irish Coffee cocktail made with Café Honey, and the coffee-and-honey flavour suits drinks built around coffee or dessert.

    Where is the Tullamore distillery?

In the town of Tullamore in County Offaly, in the middle of Ireland. The distillery was founded in 1829. When it reopened in 2014, Tullamore D.E.W. could distil in its original home again, after the whiskey had for a time been distilled at Midleton in County Cork.
