Trip to Mosel.... by Wine Blogger Max Henrik Krause

Trip to Mosel.... by Wine Blogger Max Henrik Krause

Where to go this summer? Our wine blogger Max-Henrik Krause, always bubbling with joy, has a great tip

Post by wine blogger Max-Henrik Krause

Where are you going this summer? Here's a suggestion for a great event for all Mosel wine lovers:
Mythos Mosel on June 3 and 4, 2023

Since 2014, a group of young winegrowers has been organizing "Mythos Mosel... A Riesling Journey"; always on the first weekend in June (when there's no Corona!)
They are young, creative and have wine in their blood: 15 winegrowers from the Mosel and Saar belong to the so-called "Mosel disciples" (Moseljünger). The young guns from the steep slopes prove not only with their wines but also with their commitment that they want to make the region and the cultural asset of wine attractive to a young target group.

How does it work? You buy your ticket on the Mythos Mosel website. The ticket is exchanged for a wristband at the first winery you visit during the event. However, wristbands can also be purchased on site. For 55,- euro you have access to both Saturday and Sunday and included in the price you can taste 720 different wines! See tips & bonus info at the bottom of the page.

What's happening? Approx. 120 wineries join 30 colleagues on a 20 km stretch that changes from year to year: this year it's from Kesten to Zeltingen, next year from Ürzig to Briedel. But don't worry: Included in the ticket price are shuttle buses that run every 20 minutes in both directions on the route and "zubringer buses" that run to and from the larger cities. The atmosphere is good, everyone is happy and the winemakers look forward to this event every year, where they proudly present their wines and have the opportunity to talk to consumers.
A different Mosel wine:
STAIRS N ROSES ROTWEISS CONCINNITY 2020 GERMANY WHITE WINE 75 CL 12%

Are you more into traditional wines?
Our top picks are:

BOUJONG BRAUNEBERGER WEISSER BURGUNDER 2021 GERMANY WHITE WINE 75 CL 12%.

And if you want to go all out:
VAN VOLXEM SCHARZHOFBERGER RIESLING GG 2019 GERMANY WHITE WINE 75 CL 1 2.5%

Several of the wineries in our range participate in Mythos Mosel. Meet Van Volxem, Rinke Wein, Stairs n Roses, Viermorgenhof, as well as the individual members of Das Riesling Kartell

While you're in the Mosel, visit Weirich and Boujong; they'll be happy to buy you a glass:-) And, and, and, and... Maybe Grandbois Wine could be next in our portfolio? Check them out :-)

As you have probably already guessed , Mythos Mosel is all about the Riesling grape. Riesling remains the white royal grape in Germany, and rightly so. In the early 1900s, German Riesling was among the most expensive wines in the world - more expensive than wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, which were also highly sought after at the time.Riesling

is still one of Germany's superstars, and with around 40% of the world's Riesling plants rooted deep in the steep German vineyards, the birthplace of the grape has also cemented itself as a natural home for world-class Riesling wines.

The right Riesling glass? Light, thin, aesthetic or...? Well, there are probably as many opinions as there are wine drinkers. However, I have a personal favorite when it comes to enjoying and evaluating a Riesling: RIEDEL WINEWINGS RIESLING 1234/15
A fantastic grape-specific glass that exceptionally opens up both aroma and flavor you won't find in a traditional wine glass. Try it and get an eye-opener of the very big ones!

Tips & bonus info: In addition to the main event itself, which takes place on Saturday & Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, there are a number of other events with food, music, etc. See Mythos Mosel's website for more info.

Accommodation should be booked well in advance, as some places sell out quickly.
You are always welcome to contact us if you have any questions or you want us to make an intro to one of the wineries we work with on a daily
basis.
Have fun:-)
