Cognac Tesseron follows one simple principle governing everything the house makes: only XO and beyond. Not as a marketing line, but because the family has for generations held onto some of the district's oldest, most valuable reserves.

    Expert's Description

Tesseron Tresor is a Cognac from Grande Champagne, bottled at 40%.

The house was founded by Abel Tesseron in 1905 with vineyards in both Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, and from the ancestral Domaine Tesseron between the towns of Cognac and Angoulême the family sold its distillates to the large cognac houses for decades. It was not until 2003 that Tesseron began bottling under its own name – after building a reputation as one of the district's most respected suppliers of old, unblended distillate.

Tresor is composed of eaux-de-vie from Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard, which have rested for more than three generations in Limousin oak casks in the family's cellars.

The Tesseron family also owns Château Pontet-Canet, a Grand Cru Classé estate in Pauillac from the famous 1855 classification, underlining how closely the house's identity is tied to both cognac and French wine culture at the very highest level.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tesseron Tresor French Cognac 70 cl 40%

What does it mean that Tesseron only makes "XO and beyond"?

The house has historically specialised in old, unblended distillates and therefore never releases anything below XO level, giving the whole range a consistent depth.

Is a cognac from Tesseron worth it?

The house's reputation as one of the district's finest suppliers of old distillate, combined with the long cask ageing, makes Tresor a solid choice for quality-minded cognac lovers.

What does wine from Château Pontet-Canet have to do with cognac?

The Tesseron family owns both, which does not change the flavour of the cognac but underlines the house's position at the very top of French wine and spirits culture.

How should Tesseron Tresor be served?

At room temperature in a closed cognac glass, allowing the complex aromas of the long ageing time to unfold.

Can the bottle be kept for many years after opening?

Yes, cognac is stable in the bottle and does not change noticeably, provided it is stored upright and cool.

Does Tresor make a good gift?

A house with the history and reputation Tesseron carries is a striking choice for anyone already familiar with cognac.
