Some cognac houses number their bottlings by year, and then there is Tesseron, which numbers by Lot – a reference to the individual reserves of old distillate the family keeps in the cellars at Domaine Tesseron.
Expert's Description
Tesseron Lot No. 90 XO Ovation is a Cognac from Grande Champagne, bottled at 40%.
The Tesseron house, founded by Abel Tesseron in 1905, sold its distillate to other major cognac houses for decades before the family began bottling under its own name in 2003. Since then the principle has stayed the same: only XO and beyond, composed of eaux-de-vie from Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard from Grande Champagne.
Lot No. 90 Ovation is a full-bodied XO with a handsome golden colour, where years of cask ageing have built a depth reaching well beyond the category's 10-year minimum.
The name Ovation hints at exactly the power and fullness this bottling is known for – a cognac not built to be discreet.
