Jamaica is known for molasses-heavy, ester-bomb rum - this bottle does something entirely different and goes straight to fresh cane juice.

    Expert Description

SBS 2022/2023 Origin Selection Cane Juice 1423 Jamaica Rum is a white Rum from a single estate in Jamaica, roughly 1 year old, distilled directly from fresh sugarcane juice, bottled at 57%.

According to 1423, this release is the first commercially available example of a pure cane juice rum from Jamaica - distilled directly from fresh, unpressed sugarcane juice rather than the molasses Jamaica is traditionally known for. The rum comes from a single estate, was distilled in 2022 and bottled in 2023 with minimal cask influence, letting the fresh cane juice take centre stage.

The result is markedly different from the powerful, funky Jamaican style most people know - a brighter, greener and more direct rum, showing a completely different side of the country's rum tradition.
