Sall Whisky grows organic grain on a farm in East Jutland and turns it into Single Malt Whisky. For Christmas, they did something different with a cask that had held Pedro Ximénez sherry and their own whisky: they filled it with snaps.
Expert description
Sall Whisky Snaps I've Got The Pour Batch 1 is a cask-aged Danish Snaps on a wheat spirit base, matured in a cask that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry and Sall Whisky, and bottled at 38% ABV.
The base is a wheat spirit that was left to rest in the cask. Pedro Ximénez is one of the sweetest sherry styles, and the cask has since also held Sall Whisky. The snaps ends up with a little more body than usual and a soft sweetness in the background, but it stays light and fresh.
This is Batch 1, and Sall Whisky lists it in its Christmas range. The distillery suggests the Christmas lunch table or dessert, but it also works on its own or as a digestif.
Tasting notes
Taste
Light, fresh and easy to drink. The cask adds a little more body and a soft sweetness in the background. The sweetness stays back, so the snaps still feels light.
