Matusalem carries a Cuban rum heritage forward from the Dominican Republic, after the 1959 revolution forced the family to relocate the entire production.
Expert Description
Ron Matusalem Solera 7 is a Dominican Republic Rum, distilled and aged through a solera system and bottled at 40%.
The Matusalem brand was founded in Cuba in the 19th century, but after the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the family moved production to the Dominican Republic, where it has continued ever since. Solera 7 is aged through the house's classic solera system, where rum of different ages is gradually blended across multiple tiers of casks to achieve a smooth, round character, still carrying the name "El Ron de Cuba" forward as a tribute to the brand's origin.
The result is a golden, versatile rum that works equally well neat and in cocktails.
