Named after Columbus's flagship, but finished in French casks from the Cognac region. Santa Maria is a journey across two continents.
Expert description
Ron Cristobal Santa Maria Pineau de Charentes Finish is a Rum from the Dominican Republic, distilled in 2009, finished in ex-Pineau des Charentes casks and bottled at 42%.
The rum is part of Ron Cristobal's prestigious Santa Maria series, named after one of the three ships Christopher Columbus used to cross the Atlantic in 1492. After primary maturation, the rum undergoes a second maturation in casks that previously held Pineau des Charentes, a French aperitif from the Cognac region, adding a French wine-driven dimension to the Dominican rum.
