Ripe peaches and apricots on the nose, a full-bodied white wine on the palate – Riedel has shaped this glass specifically for the white wines that deliver exactly that kind of fruit.

    The Expert's Description

The Riedel Sommeliers Stone Fruit 4200/06 is a hand-blown wine glass from the Austrian glassmaker Riedel's Sommeliers line, made from crystal glass. Sommeliers is the world's original hand-blown, wine-friendly glass collection, with each glass designed to bring out a specific grape or wine style, and the Stone Fruit glass is one of the more specialised members of the family. It's shaped for white wines with a pronounced stone-fruit character – think Viognier and similarly full-bodied, aromatic grapes – where the wide bowl lets the fruit fully unfold in the glass.

    Design & Material

The bowl is hand-blown into a wide, round shape that gives the wine plenty of room to develop, while the relatively short stem keeps the glass stable. The crystal is left undecorated, so the focus stays entirely on the wine's colour and aroma.

    Use & Recommendation

Use the glass for full-bodied, aromatic white wines such as Viognier or similar grapes with a pronounced stone-fruit character. Wash it by hand in warm water without soap, and let it air dry – the hand-blown crystal cannot go in a dishwasher.
