Eight to fifteen years in tropical Barbados, then up to ten more years in southwest France – Planteray XO is a journey across the Atlantic before it lands in the glass.
Expert Description
Planteray XO 20th Anniversary is a Barbadian Extra Old Rum from the West Indies Rum Distillery, bottled at 40%.
The rum is a blend of predominantly column-distilled rums with a touch of pot still rum, all aged between 8 and 15 years. After initial maturation in bourbon casks in Barbados' tropical climate, the rum is moved to ex-Ferrand casks of French oak in southwest France, where it continues maturing continentally for up to 10 years. This double maturation process – tropical followed by continental – is a hallmark of the Planteray range, formerly known as Plantation.
Tasting Notes
Nose
A stunning floral and fruity opening that gives way to vanilla, cocoa and milk chocolate, with a touch of spicy oak, guava, dried coconut and banana.
Palate
Sophisticated with chocolate, vanilla, ripe banana, roasted coconut and a hint of fresh mango, while the attack is spiced and creamy with sweet vanilla and caramel.
Finish
Remarkably long, where sweetness and cask character linger together for a long time.

Did You Know?
The Planteray brand was previously known as Plantation, but changed its name to distance itself from the historical connotations the word "plantation" carries in the English-speaking world.
