After 12 to 15 years of tropical ageing, this Dominican rum gets one last stay in casks from Grande Champagne, the heart of France's cognac region.
Expert Description
Patridom XO Cognac Cask Finish is a Dominican Republic Rum-based Spirit Drink, distilled from fresh sugar cane juice and molasses, tropically aged 12 to 15 years in American and French oak casks and finished in cognac casks from Grande Champagne, bottled at 43%.
Patridom, a contraction of the Spanish "patrimonio" and "dominicano", meaning "Dominican heritage", is produced by Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos, who grow their own sugar cane locally in the Dominican Republic. This limited edition was bottled in August 2022 in just 1,373 bottles, and because it's flavoured with natural aromas from the cognac casks, it's sold as a spirit drink rather than rum.
The result is a soft, fruity rum with pronounced cognac notes of pear and ripe apple.
