16.1 opens a new conversation in the Octomore series. Uncompromising peat meets honeydew melon and apricot, in a whisky that insists smoke and sweetness can speak the same language.
Expert description
Octomore 16.1 is a super-peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich, matured for 5 years and bottled at 59.3%.
The whisky marks the start of Octomore's 16th series, distilled from 100% Scottish Concerto barley with a smoke intensity of 101.4 ppm. It's matured for five years in first-fill American bourbon casks, giving a deep, rounded character despite its young age.
The combination of powerful peat smoke and bourbon maturation creates a balanced and sophisticated flavour profile that both challenges and rewards the seasoned whisky enthusiast.
