16.1 opens a new conversation in the Octomore series. Uncompromising peat meets honeydew melon and apricot, in a whisky that insists smoke and sweetness can speak the same language.

    Expert description

Octomore 16.1 is a super-peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich, matured for 5 years and bottled at 59.3%.

The whisky marks the start of Octomore's 16th series, distilled from 100% Scottish Concerto barley with a smoke intensity of 101.4 ppm. It's matured for five years in first-fill American bourbon casks, giving a deep, rounded character despite its young age.

The combination of powerful peat smoke and bourbon maturation creates a balanced and sophisticated flavour profile that both challenges and rewards the seasoned whisky enthusiast.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Intense peat smoke with sweet notes of vanilla, coconut, honeydew melon and apricot, and a mineral freshness underneath.

    Palate

Full and layered with waves of smoke, golden honey, stone fruit and toasted oak, with chocolate unfolding as the alcohol warms the palate.

    Finish

Long, smoky and complex with earthy tones and a hint of sea breeze.
