My name is Henrik Brandt and I have focused on American whiskey since 2015. As I write this I have a decent collection of a little over 450 bottles.
Since March 2019 I have reviewed whisk(e)y together with my friend Hasse Berg at https://straightwhiskey.dk/, and we have now assessed almost 250 products (as of February 2024).
In November 2019 I published the first book on American whiskey in Danish via Gads Forlag: https://gad.dk/bourbon, and later started an English-language YouTube channel inspired by the book. You can reach it via my website https://thebourbonnerd.com/
I am also an administrator of the very active Facebook group "Nordic Bourbon Community" (https://www.facebook.com/groups/nordicbourboncommunity) - you are VERY welcome if American whiskey is your thing.
My road to American whiskey has been long and winding, and it started with a Whiskey Sour many years ago. Since then I have spent a lot of time researching the perfect whiskey cocktail, and there is in fact a new book on the way about exactly that.
I love almost every type of American whiskey, but over the last few years I have grown more and more enthusiastic about Scotch, Irish and Japanese bottles too. Peated whiskies are still a struggle - but I AM getting there.
Beyond the whiskey hobby I am a very active barbecue enthusiast, and I have a long-running love affair with the USA, which I have visited more than 75 times since 1986, including all 50 states.
By day I work as a Senior Director at 3Shape, a company making equipment for the dental industry. I live in Copenhagen with my wife Lene and my golden retriever Harley.
