Port wine is perhaps the most approachable of all sherry-like casks – soft sweetness, red berries and flowers. Mosgaard has used it in 50 cl format at 49%, and the result is a Danish single malt that doesn't intimidate anyone.

    Expert description

Mosgaard Port Wine Cask is an organic Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 49% from Mosgaard Distillery in Odense. The whisky has been matured in port wine casks, which impart a soft, fruity and gently sweet character with red berries and flowers. Port wine casks are produced from the remnants of fortified wines from Portugal and give a more approachable and fruity expression than heavy sherry casks. Bottled in 50 cl format.

    Did you know?

Port wine is a fortified wine from the Douro Valley in Portugal. Once port wine casks have given up most of their port character, whisky distilleries use them as finishing casks. Mosgaard uses port wine casks as part of their broad range of cask expressions – it is one of the softer and more fruity options in Mosgaard's palette.
