In the village of Koskue by the Kyrö river in Finland, Kyrö Distillery distils a gin on 100% Finnish rye, then lets it mature on American oak. The result gave the gin its original name, Koskue, now known as Kyrö Dark Gin.
Expert's description
Koskue Kyrö Dark Gin is a Finnish gin distilled on 100% rye and oak-aged in American oak, bottled at 42.6%.
The gin comes from Kyrö Distillery, a Finnish rye distillery founded in 2012, which uses 100% Finnish rye for both its rye whisky and its gin. The base unites peppery rye with seventeen spices and botanicals, including meadowsweet, cranberry, birch and orange peel.
After distillation, the gin rests 3-12 months in new American white oak casks and is fine-tuned with freshly distilled orange peel and black pepper, giving it its dark colour and deep character.
