  Mates Gold Rum is a Blended Rum from Barbados and the Dominican Republic, matured in ex-bourbon oak casks for 3 to 5 years and bottled at 40%.

  The rum is crafted by the Dutch spirits house Mates Spirits, built around a simple idea: a natural blended rum with no added sugar or other additives. The base is a 3 to 5 year old rum from Barbados blended with rum from the Dominican Republic, rounded off with a small trace of Jamaican pot still rum for extra character. The result is a golden rum with a full, slightly funky personality that draws on three different rum traditions in one bottle.

  Because no sugar is added, the natural sweetness from the cask ageing comes through clearly, and the light oak structure ties everything together without taking over.

  Tasting Notes

  Nose

  Sweet vanilla meets ripe tropical fruit, with a hint of caramel from the cask.

  Palate

  Complex and full-bodied with natural sweetness, banana and pineapple, a light oaky base and the funky notes from the pot still rum.

  Finish

  Soft and warm, with lingering fruit and a last touch of vanilla.

  Unlike many white rums, Mates White Rum is not just a young, neutral cocktail base. More than half of the blend is a 3 year old rum from Trinidad, giving the bottle more body and character than the clear colour suggests. The rest of the blend comes from Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, all put together by the Dutch spirits house Mates Spirits with no added sugar.

  The result is a white rum that is more matured and slightly sweeter than most in its category, with clear oaky nuances beneath the fresh fruit.
