Four Caribbean islands in one bottle, assembled by the Finnish company One Eyed Spirits, who previously made the brand known under the more controversial name Ron de Jeremy.
Expert Description
Hell or High Water XO is a Caribbean Rum, a blend from Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana assembled by One Eyed Spirits, aged up to 15 years in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40%.
The brand was founded by Olli Hietalahti and Jouko Laune and was originally called Ron de Jeremy, before being rebranded as Hell or High Water in 2020. The XO edition is the house's ambitious flagship, a blend of hand-selected, super-premium pot and column still rums from four different Caribbean islands, together showing the breadth of the region's rum traditions. The blend won Double Gold at both the 2020 SIP Awards and the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Awards.
The result is a dark, mahogany-coloured rum with a rich, complex profile of ripe tropical fruit and spice.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Rich sugarcane sweetness, heavy congeners and wet oak.
