Four months can make quite a difference where cask strength is concerned. This cask was emptied in April 2021, half a year before its sibling cask from the same distillate, and came out even stronger.

    Did You Know?

A first fill sherry cask, meaning a cask that has only previously held sherry and never whisky before this filling, typically gives a far more intense colour and flavour influence than a refill cask, which explains the deep sherry character in this bottling.

Frequently Asked Questions about Glenlivet 2006/2021 Signatory Vintage 14 Year Old

What is a first fill sherry butt?

It is a cask that has only ever held sherry before this whisky filling, giving a stronger colour and flavour influence than a cask that has previously matured whisky.

Is this whisky worth the money?

With only 598 bottles from a first fill sherry cask and an unusually high cask strength of 62.2%, it offers an intensity and rarity that appeals to enthusiasts seeking powerful single casks.

Should this whisky be diluted with water?

At 62.2%, a few drops of water are recommended to open the whisky up and make the powerful sherry notes more accessible.

Why is there a difference in ABV between this and Glenlivet's 16 Year Old Signatory release?

The difference comes from natural evaporation through the cask during maturation, and the evaporation rate varies from cask to cask depending on factors such as the cask's age and storage conditions.

Which glass suits this whisky best?

A tulip-shaped nosing glass concentrates the sherry aromas best. See our range of whisky glasses.

Does this whisky suit a collector of independent bottlings?

Yes, the limited quantity, the high cask strength and the first fill sherry cask make it a fitting addition to a collection of Signatory Vintage bottlings.
