Then part of the whisky is removed and bottled in new French Limousin casks, which gives this whisky a very special character of roasted nuts and oak. It has a deep and intense gold color, a creamy and rich aroma with buttery notes and a fruity and nutty taste - followed by a slightly spicy aftertaste with traces of sweet almonds.The Glenlivet was one of the first distilleries to use French oak for maturation, and this has since been adopted by the majority of whisky distilleries. Limousin oak casks, cut in the French Dordogne region, are often used to age both wines and cognacs.
